JR is a French artist and photographer whose monumental black-and-white portraits have transformed city streets, historic landmarks, and public spaces around the world into open-air galleries. Beginning his career as a graffiti artist in Paris, he developed a distinctive practice of pasting large-scale photographic portraits onto buildings, trains, bridges, and neighborhoods, creating works that blur the line between photography, architecture, and social commentary.
